Then came the day when I had to be taken care by a babysitter...she was a truly wonderful person..who is so selfless. My mom had to go to work to supplement more income for the family. That's when i started to really dabble with food. My babysitter was a Malay lady and I am a half indian-grago mixed girl. We use to go to the market together, started bargaining together..and I started to look, sound and act like a skinny dark malay girl..:-) till today my taste buds have hardly changed...i truly love Malay Indonesian food..its the simplicity of its taste with the natural use of ingredients

So begins my journey with food..not only eating but actually preparing it.

I still remember the first dish i ever prepared by myself was when I was 10 years old...and guess what the dish was...its every Malaysian's fav...Nasi lemak..

today as I am more concious of what I put in my food..my hubby being a vegetarian has changed the way i cook...
can u imagine cooking nasi lemak for a vegetarian? so look out for my next post...it would be the recipe for that...

So what kind of a cook am I? I have not had the luxury of being professionally trained nor have I attended any sort of weekend classes. Cooking stems from my passion...
A passion that I think was in me since I was a kid...
I remember pacing the kitchen as a kid...trying to sniff, taste and boy the amount of questions I had...
I was not lucky when it came to having fancy food at home...we were poor...my dad a pastor survived only on church givings after each sermon..sometimes we only ate rice with sweet sauce and a fried fish...
